WILD WOMAN VISION CAMPOnce a year or so, we hold a WILD WOMAN VISION CAMP Gathering and are planning one for 2004. This also can count as Lesson #10 of Hygieia's Home Study Course. Are you currently enrolled (or soon to be) and interested in sponsoring this event in your community? If so, please write to Jeannine directly -- freestone@freestone.org -- and we'll begin dreaming together soon! Please read the invitation below plus the report of 2001's awesome HYGIEIA COLLEGE Gathering. These are intimate if wild gatherings as we keep the enrollment to approximately 30 women, related children and nursing babies. Students can attend the gathering no matter what Lesson Number you are presently working on and children are especially invited to come. As always, we will circle in some natural setting for about 4 days and explore those inward skills that cannot be experienced through correspondence. Hygieia's Home Study Course. If you are pay-as-you-go, then you will have to pay the organizers the registration fee plus also whatever a Lesson costs at that time. Right now, each Lesson is $299 so that would be in addition to the event's fees. HYGIEIA COLLEGE GATHERING Wild Woman Vision Camp April 20, 21, 22, 2001. Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Come to southern Virginia, to a 180 acre working organic tobacco farm and celebrate life. We will camp together, practice womancraft, deepen our knowing, circle in sacred ceremony on this beautiful farm. Each day will begin with gratitude - Yoga and Dream Circles and then proceed to Ceremony as co-created by the participants through the day. Evening campfires and song, dance and our stories beneath the stars. The tuition for the Friday night (starts with evening meal) through Sunday (ends with midday meal) is $300. This is for the workshop and six vegetarian meals. Children joyfully encouraged to attend. Breastfeeding babies are FREE UP TO ONE YEAR OLD; BREASTFEEDING toddlers $50 from 1 to 2 YEARS; 3-10 years, both sexes, $100; age 10-19, females only, $200.
In early October 2000, HYGIEIA COLLEGE's Reunion and Gathering of Wild
Women and our wild children was a perfect ceremony! The waxing full moon in
Aquarius brought out the shining beauty of our women souls and we saw
reflected what the Earth wants now in the red rock of Moab. Now is the right
time for our children to be integrated into our most sacred moments -- to
participate as they are in ceremonial circles rather than set apart in "child care" or even trained to be our idea of who children "should" be at spiritual events. Rather, our children being fresher from the source, are the psychic barometers for any gathering. Our children, in other words, keep us honest and real. For as the saying goes from Chinese medicine, "The bigger the front, the bigger the back" and those on a conscious spiritual path can cast big shadows if we focus only on the sun and forget the moon. Yes, bring it on, enlightenment!! Yet our children remind us that through our cycles of endarkenment, we become more fully who we are. An example -- one almost three year old was aggressing, his mother disappointed when her sister didn't show up to help out (and a good auntie she is!) as she has another new toddler who is only one year of age. The last morning of the gathering, another mother said that there was an issue to discuss in camp as one little boy was being called "Devil Boy" by the all of the other children. Of course I knew who it was and assured her that he indeed was, "a little devil", at this event so far. She paused, then said relievedly, "So my children are telling the truth." I replied that all groups create archetypes, and the shadow or outsider is an important archetype to behold. As the mother embraced the "issue", I added that "It's better to be wanted by the police than not at all" and she got it. "Oh! He is acting out for negative attention!" As the day went on, though we never discussed the issue of the Devil Boy with the camp, somehow he mellowed out noticeably anyway. This is what the vision revealed - - 'perfection' means all embracing. As women, we are particularly attuned to receiving a vision and sustaining this with all our relations as we hold the picture of what our loves look like in the form of our children and all our creative projects in this world. This vision camp was graced with Loi Caitlin, JP's eldest daughter and granddaughter Wynn Sorrel as well as our youngest daughter Halley Sophia who emotionally and eloquently held the direction of the west. Juniper Allison sat passionately in the south and Jane Moon grounded us in the north -- with JP's inspiration in the east. And for the give-away circle, Mary Kroeger sat in the west to bring the wisdom of the dusk to the circle. Olga's Kitchen provided gourmet vegan meals and we were fed in many dimensions through yoga, dreamtime work, astrology, circles and the massive bonfire started by bow/ spindle and a nest of shredded bark (thank you Melissa). Molly Willett, former Director of the Glad for Six Directions Foundation came one evening for dinner and some wild women asked if she were JP's mother? Well, she is the same age thereof, yet Molly is only a friend and colleague whose reunion with Hygieia's Mystery School sisterhood was touching to behold. There were mothers and daughters of all ages at this event from 81 years to 5 years -- and little sons of a few months, too plus a delightful bo y tribe who made teepes with the girls. At the end of the gathering Halley told me that she was kind of sad, as she leaves being a child and becomes a maiden. Halley turns fourteen on her father's birthday this year (again). She told me that she played with the kids and realized that the young ones don't care about gender -- they play with all openly yet her observance is that gender really begins to matter as she matures and now there are new games this world expects her to play. She hopes to remember to play like a child as she grows up. Me too!! I joined up to Hygiea College years ago, can't even remember how long ago, maybe 10 years, and I'm ready to start lesson 2! and have been for a few years! So slack or so busy or perfect timing! I loved the innerview, I was able to put together some important pieces, like my Mum was given scopolamine in the middle third of of her labour with me and lost consciousness, and at that stage, the middle third of most things I do, I lose ability to focus, lose hope, and probably would prefer to lose consciousness! When the last third comes on Im fine. Interesting! Love, Jane Moon from Australia I'm new to this group, but as I've read the words you've all written, I know I fit in well. JPB and her teachings strengthened me, filled me, and reminded me of birth's truths when I was pregnant. (9 months ago w/first) I could write for hours on how I agree with the principles of free birth. I resemble much of you, as I desire free birth for myself & lover, and aspire towards midwifery to help others. I have a deep- rooted call to help others in my heart. I'm passionate about gentle birth, for our earth and her babies. I hope to dive into my passions, and dreams with the aid of Hygnia College. I believe the future holds it for me. Its an element if healing I desire. I look forward to participating within this group. God Bless, Crystal Kay Ps. I've recently developed a web site.
