Return to the current report Return to the archive lists NOVEMBER 2000 COSMIC WEATHER REPORT The Cosmic Weather for November looks to be intense and emotional with storms and brilliant light beaming through the clouds. As the month most related to the sign of highs and lows (high flying eagle to lowly insect), Scorpio, we can expect extremes in many realms. All Saints Day or Samhain celebrate the cross quarter point between solstice and equinox and along with Halloween are perfectly matched to the transforming symbolism of Scorpio. Just as the holy saint casts the shadow of appalling sinner, so Halloween with all its dark wild and weird-ness precedes the daylight of All Saints Day. Along with the scorpion, the snake is also often associated with this sign, (especially as the snake is shedding its skin) to accentuate the process of transformation. The Phoenix, too, is associated due to its ability to be reborn anew from the ashes of its cremation. Scorpio is the 8th sign and marks the octave or beginning of a higher or lower level of the scale. When the figure eight is turned on its side, it becomes
the sign for infinity or everlasting life. The scorpion's curved back tail is a variation on this theme and it is said that the scorpion is willing and able to sting itself to death.
Death, rebirth and sexuality are part of the larger context of the scorpionic transformation that takes us through the numbers game from individual through sex (like the word section - to cut) to duality and multiplicity to unity with the ulti-mate. Moon in Capricorn, places emphasis on the three Earth signs, bringers of stability and material organization. Along with Sun and Mercury in Scorpio, the Moon points a finger of God at Jupiter calling us to elaborate all our plans and mental categories. On the 2nd of November, the Moon will make exact earth trines and the sensation of a bit of grounding might feel comforting in these dramatically shifting times. A grand trine is also formed with Mars at the end of Virgo and Neptune in early Aquarius, pointing at Saturn retrograde. Indeed, both retro Saturn and Jupiter are accented by being on the handle of the fan or the spewing lava of the volcano formed by all the other planets. Jupiter retro is also accented by its ongoing opposition with Pluto. Venus is now a major player in the encounter as she exactly conjoins Chiron. If the ladies have been a bit intense as Venus transited over Pluto in the last few days, lets hope that the higher wisdom is aiming at healing and this is undoubtedly the potential as well as expanding our horizons. Speaking of which, Sagittarius may also add the element of distance to the mix. (Prepare for major long distance phone bills!?) The symbol of fan and volcano both speak to the intensity of the times focused especially on Pluto/Jupiter, accentuating sagittarian fire with Gemini's fanned air. The combination is sure to co-relate with powerful transformation and mental urgency. Mars at the end of Virgo is offering us ample energy to get all our little projects completed before entering Libra on the 3rd, when we can expect more of our attention to be focused on relationships. It will be interesting to see what kind of shift in the political scene this brings. The situation in the mid-east is a wild card that will play into the hand, and may have its effects on the US election as well. Of course Tuesday, the 7th, election day in the US, will be interesting for many reasons. Eyes and ears will be on the voting. My pick is still Al/Tipper as the most likely to succeed based on their classic political charts. The day will be extra interesting to watch astrologically, as Mercury stations and teeters right on the cusp of Libra/Scorpio while the Moon in Pisces creates a tee-square in the mutable signs to match the ongoing grand trine in air. I see in the planets the indication of a very charged, pivotal moment in history, continuing the pattern of the last few months as square and trine have vied for supremacy. Will amazing grace or grinding drudgery prevail? 11 November Full Moon in Taurus is certain to be powerful as the US integrates the election results and we harken back 6 months to the earthy lessons of the May super New Moon alignment in a similar part of Taurus. Hopefully it will be a culmination of so many of our hearts desires to honor our "Earth in Balance." The Moon in Taurus and Gemini will be at the focus point of all the other planets of the "volcano." And during this time comely Venus slips into something less comfortable in Capricorn. Beware, the seduction of business as normal. Transiting Moon energizes and punctuates various integrated patterns throughout the month, shifting the balance and shining her lovely silver light on various astro-archetypes. 19 November, for example, while Moon in Virgo creates a tee-square, to counter once again the grand air trine, Mercury and Venus point a finger of God at Jupiter and Sun opposes Saturn. A complex day that continues old dialogs with the added duality of Jupiter's powers of expansion being highlighted at the same time as Saturn's contraction pulls our solar vitality into the leaden depths. Hmmmmmmmmmm. On 21/22 November as the Moon reactivates the Grand trine, the Sun jumps into Sagittarius and we are in for a activating shift with the fires fanned brightly with ample air. The Sagittarius New Moon on 25 November amplifies the fanned quality while adding more highly volatile fuel to the fire as Sun and Moon counterbalance Father Jupiter the begetter and generator. Oh what activity our minds will engender this weekend! I double dare you to meditate for a solid bit of time to watch the inner volcano erupt! The month ends on the upbeat as the gorgeous couple, Lady Luna and Voluptuous Venus apply to a tantalizing trine with Stolid Saturn while Mighty Mars does likewise to Universal Uranus. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the highly animated Solar Centaur approaches a meeting with the Divinity of the Depths, Pluto, at the "OK is not a good enough answer" corral. December looks to offer fun and unfathomable games.
